I
started by scanning pages from this manual on 1 June, 2006 while offshore
of the Alaskan Peninsula onboard the Oceanographic Vessel "Ocean Pioneer"
using a Canon Cano-Scan N1240U flat bed scanner. This scanner is
small and lightweight enough for travel and powered through the USB cable
from computer. My laptop is a Compaq Presario 2104, 2.1ghz AMD
Processor, 30gig Hard Drive with 768mb Ram. The operating system is
Windows XP Home Version with SP2. This computer has been
used for the previous two years to put other manuals online.
Completed setting up the web pages after scanning, editing and formatting
1230 pages on 25 June 2006. Uploaded onto the server and internet on
4 August 2006.
