new one installed. The new bushing
should be pressed into the lower support until the distance from the end of the bushing to the face of
the lower support is 19/64 of an inch, Fig. 25.
Reassembly
1. Screw the gearshift lever swivel into the
upper support until the
shoulder of the swivel extends above the support approximately
1/8".
2. Install the control shaft by threading it
through the upper support and
swivel.
3. Install the anti-rattle springs and pivot
pin spring and pivot
pins.
4. Thread the gearshift lever over the
control shaft lever and anti-rattle springs, compress the pivot pins, and, at the same time,
press down on the top of the
lever until the pivot pins snap
into place.
5. Install the lower support assembly on the
steering mast jacket,
being sure to engage the key. Tighten the clamp bolts just
snug.
6. Screw the upper support up or down on the
swivel until the distance
between the lower edge of the
gearshift lever and the top of the support is 3/32" to 1/8", Fig.
