SERVICE
The following procedure can be used when over­hauling or installing replacement parts.
REMOVAL FROM CARBURETOR
1.    Disconnect wire leads which run to control unit.
2.    Remove 3 air horn screws holding retaining clips for lead wires.
3.    Remove control unit from carburetor by re­moving three attaching screws.
DISASSEMBLY OF UNIT
1.    Remove 2 attaching screws which hold sole-noid to control housing.
2.    Carefully remove solenoid from housing.
3.    Remove control valve by upending unit and shaking valve into hand.
4.    Make sure small control valve spring is in­tact in center of solenoid.
INSPECTION AND CLEANING
1.    Inspect control valve for burrs or distortion and freedom of movement in control housing.
2.    Inspect control valve spring making sure it is not distorted.
3.   Visually inspect bleed holes in housing For being plugged or dirty.
4.    Inspect wiring on solenoid for breaks or shorts.
5.    Never immerse the control unit or parts in any commercial cleaner or solvent as it will ruin the vacuum diaphragm or solenoid unit.
6.    If cleaning is necessary only clean the con­trol valve itself to remove any gum or dirt.
If replacement parts are needed a solenoid kit has been released which includes the coil and lead assembly, control valve, valve return spring and 2 solenoid retaining screws and lock washers. The diaphragm and bracket assembly is also serviced as a separate unit.
ASSEMBLY OF UNIT
1.    Install control valve into housing.
2.    Install small valve return spring into solenoid assembly.
3.    Install solenoid and spring assembly into con­trol housing lining up solenoid with control valve.
4.    Install two solenoid retaining screws and lockwashers.
INSTALLATION ON CARBURETOR
1.    Attach control unit to carburetor air horn using three attaching screws.
2.    Attach lead wires.
3.    Attach lead wires to carburetor air horn using three retaining clips, screws and lockwashers.
ADJUSTMENT
The only adjustment required is the idle speed adjustment. With the engine running, the transmis­sion shift lever in neutral and the air conditioning switch on, turn the adjusting screw on the diaphragm shaft in or out until 900 RPM setting is reached.
CAUTION: Always hold the diaphragm shaft with a wrench to avoid damage to the diaphragm when turning the adjusting screw.
