be used on any other than the car it originally came with. When exchanges are attempted, the fasteners are invariably out of line and the boot generally will not fit properly.
Cleaning the Fabric Top
The fabric top is a washable material and should be cleaned with a neutral soap (such as the cas-tiles) and water only.
NO TOP DRESSING OR OTHER PREPARATION IS RECOMMENDED FOR CLEANING THIS FABRIC.
Top Rear Curtain
The rear curtain of the top may be opened through the use of a zipper fastener down each side, and turn-button type fasteners across the top. When the back curtain is opened, this part should be brought forward and allowed to rest on the inside of the car.
Rear Quarter Windows
The rear quarter windows are controlled by a regulator and handle in the same manner as on a closed body. The travel of each window in opening or closing is an arc instead of straight up and down as on closed bodies.
The top can be lowered or raised regardless of the position of the quarter windows.
Complete instructions covering the quarter win-
dow replacement are outlined under the "Body Glass" section of this manual.

On the Fleetline and Fleetmaster models only. the automatic dome light switch is used. This is operated by a spring-loaded plunger on the body left front hinge pillar just below the door check and hold-open link. Fig. 81.
Opening the left front door allows this plunger to be forced outward,

ing on the dome light.
The regular dome light
switch on the inside of the right body lock pillar is
inoperative while this door is open.
Since a certain amount of sliding action takes place between the head of this plunger on the pillar and the door when closing against it, a small quantity of stainless grease should be applied to the end of the plunger at regular lubrication periods.
Body wiring diagrams outlining the various wiring and circuits covered by the trim in the closed bodies are shown in Figures 82 and 83.
