2. Insert the blade of
a putty knife or similar tool between the door outer flange and the
lock retainer spring, and at the
same time pry the retainer out about 1/2" using another
putty knife or thin screwdriver, Fig. 23.
The safety lock is now disengaged and may be
removed from the door panel.

through the opening in the spring; make sure
the spring properly engages the
recesses immediately
under the head of the lock, and then
push the spring into the locked
position in the
door lock pillar.

If the spring has been taken out
of the door pillar. Fig.
24, it must be inserted to within
about 1/2" of the locked
position in its slot before
attempting to install the lock.
3. Re-cement
the door rubber weatherstrip securely.

Sedan Rear Door Lock
On the rear doors of all four-door sedans the
door lock incorporates a means of
shifting the remote
control link lever to provide free-wheeling or
positive action on the inside or
remote control door handles
at the option of the owner.
All four-door sedans
come out of production with the
lever set for positive action on these handles. To change to
free-wheeling use a pointed tool similar
to that shown in Fig. 25 through the clearance
hole in the face of the lock
pillar, engage the tab on
the remote control link lever and trip the lever
to the "up" position to engage the
intermittent lever.

Installation
1. To install the safety lock when the retainer
spring has not been removed from
the door entirely, it is
only necessary to guide the lock
