GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
Delco Hydraulic Brake Controls manufactured by Moraine Products Division consist of a master cylinder in which hydraulic pressure is originated and wheel cylinders that move the brake shoes and linings outward against each brake drum. (See Figure 1). A reservoir in the master cylinder maintains the operating fluid at a constant volume. The Delco Hydraulic Brake system is self-equalizing—meaning that there can be no braking pressure applied to any one brake drum until all brake linings are in contact with their respective drums. Therefore, Delco Hydraulic Brake Controls are not subject to

individual adjustment except for the wear of brake lining, drums, etc.
The master cylinder is fitted with a piston, and the wheel cylinders are each fitted with opposed pistons. All of these pistons are provided with rubber cup packings which act as a seal to maintain pressure, prevent loss of brake fluid, and prevent entry of air into the system. (See Figures 2 and 9.) The brake pedal, when depressed, moves the piston within the master cylinder, thus displacing the brake fluid from the master cylinder and forcing it through the "line" into the four wheel cylinders. (See Figures 1 and 3B.)
