INSTRUCTIONS for BLEEDING and
RE-FILLING
The correct order of bleeding is
left front, right front, left rear, right rear. Following this procedure
expels air from the lines and wheel
cylinders closest to the
master cylinder first. It eliminates the possibility of air in a
line close to the master cylinder
entering a line further away after it has been bled.
The safest procedure is to bleed
after the brake system has been completely re-assembled and the drums are
in place. If, for any reason the drums are not in place, be sure retractor
springs are attached and/or wheel cylinder clamp is used.
Bleeding of the hydraulic system
may be accomplished by either of two methods, namely—filler jar or
pressure tank. In either case, clean top of master cylinder carefully before removing
filler cap assembly. (See Figures 11A and 11B.)
(A) If
the filler jar method is used, remove bleeder screw in bleeder valve (See Figure
9) ; attach special bleeder
hose; place end of hose in container partially filled with fluid, making
sure the end of the hose is
below the level of the fluid; open
